Influenza can be a serious illness, but getting vaccinated can help protect you and your loved ones. The 2024 Flu vaccine is designed to target four different strains of the influenza virus, providing comprehensive protection as recommended by health authorities. It is important to stay up to date with your vaccinations, even if you received one in the previous year. By increasing the number of people vaccinated in the community, we can collectively reduce the spread of the flu and protect those who are most vulnerable.
Annual vaccination is the most important measure to help minimise the spread and symptoms of influenza and its complications for yourself and others this year.
The flu vaccine:
Can be administered at your local pharmacy from 6 months of age in Queensland and from 5 years of age in South Australia, New South Wales & Victoria.
Is recommended for all people aged 6 months and over to receive an influenza vaccination each year.
Helps protect everyone, especially the most vulnerable; young babies and children, the elderly, pregnant women and people with certain medical conditions.
For residents of Queensland, the 2024 Free Influenza Vaccination Program is now live - all Queensland residents over the age of 6 months are eligible for a free flu vaccination until 30th September 2024.

* The Influenza vaccines are free to high risk groups identified in the National Immunisation Program Schedule and to residents of Queensland once the Queensland Health Free Flu Program commences. Flucelvax vaccine is available for $49.99. For residents of Queensland the Flu Vax is free under the Free Flu Vax Program, however Flucelvax incurs a $25 service fee.

The 2024 Flu vaccine is quadrivalent, containing 4 strains of influenza virus as recommended by the Australian Influenza Vaccine Committee and the World Health Organisation.
If a person had a 2023 influenza vaccine in late 2023 or early 2024, they are still recommended to receive the 2024 influenza vaccine.
To deliver this service safely to our customers we have implemented the following measures at our flu clinics:
If you are unwell and have any symptoms including fever, sore throat, cough or shortness of breath please do not present at our Pharmacy for your flu vaccination. Please call the pharmacy to cancel and rebook for another time when you are well.
We encourage all staff and customers to practise good hand hygiene and cough etiquette at all times. All flu clinics will have access to hand sanitiser for use by the immuniser between each vaccination and will be made available for customer use.
You will be required to remain in the pharmacy for 15 minutes post vaccination to be monitored. The person who gave you the vaccine has been trained to respond to immediate reactions.
Vaccinations are subject to Pharmacist and vaccine availability, age restrictions apply.

Annual vaccination offers effective protection against influenza. While it does not offer 100% protection, vaccination does decrease your chance of getting influenza and also reduces the severity of the symptoms if you do catch the virus. Getting vaccinated also protects those around you, including pregnant women, babies and young children, older people and people with certain chronic health conditions.1,2)
The flu shot does not protect against COVID‐19:
All COVID-19 vaccines can be co-administered (given on the same day) with an influenza vaccine. Studies show that co-administration of COVID-19 and influenza vaccines is safe and produces a good immune response.
